PIERRE, S.D. (KELO) — South Dakota has its first presumptive positive cases of COVID-19, the strain of Coronavirus causing a global outbreak, Gov. Kristi Noem’s office confirmed.

Details about the patients were not released, but state officials say they are travel-related. We also don’t know how many cases there are...

PIERRE, S.D. (KELO) — South Dakota has five COVID-19 cases including one death possibly linked to the strain of Coronavirus causing a global outbreak, Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD) confirmed.

State health officials said the person who died was a man between the age of 60 and 69 from Pennington County. They are waiting for medical examiner confirmation but said he tested positive for COVID-19. Noem said he had underlying medical conditions. The man died earlier Tuesday.

The governor’s office said four other people with cases, all travel-related, are not hospitalized at this time:

Male 40-49 – Beadle County
Male 50-59 – Charles Mix County
Female 30-39 – Davison County
Male 40-49 – Minnehaha County


According to the press conference, one of the 5 died and they are awaiting autopsy to assign COD.

PIERRE, S.D. (KEVN/KOTA TV) - Three more people in South Dakota have tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus, according to Gov. Kristi Noem. The new positives do have to be confirmed by the Centers for Disease Control.

Two of the people are from Minnehaha County and are in their 40s and 50s. The third person is from Bon Homme County and in his 60s.

Two had recently traveled but the state has not finished investigating the history of the third person. The three people had exhibited conditions about a week before they were tested...

PIERRE, S.D. (KELO) — South Dakota’s first known victim of the coronavirus called COVID-19 was a man in his 60s from Pennington County who died while in Davison County, Governor Kristi Noem said Monday.

She said the man hadn’t been in Pennington County for the two weeks leading up to his death. ..

Gov. Kristi Noem confirmed Monday morning that there is evidence of community spread of COVID-19 in the state, beginning in Beadle County where there are now 12 positive cases.

On Monday morning, Noem and Department of Health Secretary Kim Malsam-Rysdon announced there were seven new cases in the state: two more in Beadle County, and individual cases in Codington, Davison, Hughes, Lyman and McCook Counties. Three of the new cases are hospitalized.

State Representative Bob Glanzer, R-Beadle and Kingsbury counties, said he's one of the positive cases in Beadle County...
