Influenza Activity Level: LOCAL

ILI Activity Status (South Carolina baseline is 2.05%*): The state ILI percentage was .49%. These data reflect reports from 14 (46.7%) providers.

SC Viral Isolate and RT-PCR Activity: Three positive specimens were reported. Since 9/29/13, 15 positive specimens have been reported.

Positive Rapid Flu Test Activity: One hundred seventy seven positive rapid tests were reported. Since 9/29/13, 455 positive rapid tests have been reported.

Hospitalizations: Six lab confirmed hospitalizations were reported. Since 9/29/13, 22 lab confirmed hospitalizations have been reported.
Deaths: No lab confirmed deaths were reported.

For the current MMWR reporting week, three positive specimens were reported.

For the current MMWR reporting week, 177 positive rapid antigen tests were reported. Of these, 145 were influenza A, 3 were influenza A/B, 27 were influenza B and 2 were unknown. This compares to 90 this time last year.

For the current MMWR reporting week, 6 lab confirmed influenza hospitalizations were reported. No lab confirmed influenza deaths were reported.*

Positive Rapid Flu Test Activity: Two hundred ninety one positive rapid tests were reported. Since 9/29/13, 746 positive rapid tests have been reported. Of these 291 tests, 268 were influenza A, 2 were influenza A/B, and 21 were influenza B. This compares to 54 this time last year.

Hospitalizations: Twelve lab confirmed hospitalizations were reported. Since 9/29/13, 34 lab confirmed hospitalizations have been reported.

Positive Rapid Flu Test Activity: Nine hundred and eighty nine positive rapid tests were reported. Since 9/29/13, 2136 positive rapid tests have been reported.

Hospitalizations: Fifty lab confirmed hospitalizations were reported. Since 9/29/13, 123 lab confirmed hospitalizations have been reported.

Deaths: One lab confirmed death was reported. Since 9/29/13, three lab confirmed deaths have been reported. (All 3 were in the 50-64 age group).

For the current MMWR reporting week, 989 positive rapid antigen tests were reported. Of these, 919 were influenza A, 6 were influenza A/B, and 64 were influenza B. This compares to 1601 this time last year.

During the most recent MMWR week, 1.76 % of patient visits to SC ILINet providers were due to ILI. This is below the state baseline (2.05%). This ILI percentage compares to 3.97 % this time last year. Reports were received from providers in 10 counties, representing all 4 regions. The statewide percentage of ER visits with fever-flu syndrome was 7.03%.

For the current MMWR reporting week, 1976 positive rapid antigen tests were reported. Of these, 1816 were influenza A, 38 were influenza A/B, 6 were unknown, and 116 were influenza B. This compares to 9926 this time last year.

Reports were received from providers in 10 counties, representing 3 of the 4 regions. The statewide percentage of ER visits with fever-flu syndrome was 6.89%.

For the current MMWR reporting week, 2206 positive rapid antigen tests were reported. Of these, 2056 were influenza A, 26 were influenza A/B, 3 were unknown, and 121 were influenza B. This compares to 9129 this time last year.

Note: In week 50, S. Carolina reported a total of 6 deaths; they were in the 18-49 and 50-64 age groups. So this week, the chart shows at least 1 pediatric death and 1 65+ death. I haven't seen this pediatric death in either the CDC report or the MMWR.

Of these, 3736 were influenza A, 45 were influenza A/B, 155 were influenza B, and 2 were unknown. This compares to 4503 this time last year.

For the current MMWR reporting week, 3710 positive rapid antigen tests were reported. Of these, 3476 were influenza A, 47 were influenza A/B, 162 were influenza B, and 25 were unknown. This compares to 3434 this time last year.
