BURAO (Somalilandsun) ? Health officials have raised an alarm over increased Chickenpox cases in Togdheer region.
According to the Togdheer regional health coordinator Dr. Abdi Yasin, the disease has returned to the region in full force both in the capital Burao and several other towns and villages. This revelation was made during a press conference the regional medical team jointly held with the World Health Organization-WHO in Burao town.
Dr Abdi Yasin that 350 cases have already been recorded in Burao regional hospital alone, while reports are being collated as per the number in district hospitals and village MCH's, Said he, "These cases are all encompassing in age and gender as the patients are children, women and men of all ages"
The regional health coordinator informed that the disease that has overwhelmed October and Saylada (abattoir) estates of Burao town was spread from Sarar region where it was reported two months ago most likely by patients seeking medical attention at the Burao general hospital which is better equipped than the one at Ainabo town...
