Health Targets Malaria Hotspots as Cases Soar

The Ministry of Health and Medical services (MHMS) is targeting Malaria hotspot areas, starting with Central Province.

Malaria incidence rates have soared in Honiara, Guadalcanal, Malaita and in the Central Province. The Health Ministry says reversing the trend will require what’s often been termed as the ‘healthy setting initiative.’

The healthy setting initiative involves tackling malaria at the community level, and will be delivered as part of the overall MHMS village healthy setting initiative that is being rolled out nationwide...
