Swine flu fears before qualifiers
The Paraguayan Health Ministry wants the World Cup qualifier against Chile to be played behind closed doors due to swine flu.
Maria Cristina Talavera, Chief of Epidemiology at the ministry, warned the match at Estadio Defensores del Chaco in Asuncion should have no fans in the stands as Chile has suffered the second biggest outbreak in South America.
"This event might turn into a big generator of H1N1 flu cases. It should be played behind closed doors, without supporters," Talavera said.
"I know there is a lot of money behind football matches, but do you want flu to settle down in Paraguay?
"If the game will not be played behind closed doors, please don't go. Do not risk your families' lives."
Paraguay lead the CONMEBOL qualifying zone on 24 points and visit second-placed Brazil four days after the Chile match.
