Slovenia has declared a 30-day epidemic situation with effect from Monday, which allows local authorities to quickly implement measures against the growing number of infected.
The government decided at a meeting held late Sunday night. Ljubljana took the same step on 12 March, and this security measure remained in force until 30 May.
On Friday, authorities tightened restrictions on population movements in the regions most affected by the epidemic, and schools switched to distance education.
The country has also tightened drape rules and restricted the operation of bars and restaurants.
Slovenia, with a population of two million, reported more than 1,600 new cases last weekend.
