While in the spring the number of coronavirus victims in Slovakia was very low compared to neighboring countries, now the country reports up to 204 deaths per day. It is as if more than 400 people died of covid-19 in one day in a twice as large Czech Republic. Most coronavirus victims (262) were reported domestically by the authorities on 3 November.
Current data from Slovakia are probably influenced by the New Year's holiday and the following weekend, but even so, since the last week of December, the number of victims per day exceeds one hundred. The media therefore warns of a problem with burial, which can occur within two weeks. According to the TASR agency, there is no longer any place for hospital pathologies for the deceased, and the bodies are thus transported from district to district.
There will be a significant increase in the number of deaths according toLadislav Strizza from the Slovak Association of Funeral and Cremation Services means a delay of funerals by one to two weeks. All six functioning crematoria in the country are in full swing.
