Marcos D?az Orellana, the governor of the state of M?rida, confirmed on Wednesday morning that there are 60 H1N1 cases in the region. D?az said that two people have died in 2011 while 16 others remain hospitalized.

The official stressed that "an epidemiological barrier" has been set in the region, adding that "there is no reason to panic or to rush to get vaccinated."

D?az Orellana recalled that Venezuelan state policy comprises vaccination against the H1N1, whether it is an A, B, or C strain of children under seven, the elderly above 60, and people with medical complications.
