The number of patients seeking treatment in polyclinics for Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) increased by 13% from 18,377 in E-week 2 (daily average of 3,341 over 5.5 working days) to 20,702 in E-week 3 (daily average of 3,764 over 5.5 working days), and exceeded the epidemic threshold.

The proportion of cases with Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) among the polyclinic ARI cases remained low at 2%.
The overall prevalence of influenza among ILI samples (n=376) in the community was 51.6% (preliminary) in the past four weeks. Of all the influenza virus isolates in December 2010, influenza A (H1N1-2009) comprised 76.8% whilst influenza A (H3N2) and influenza B each constituted 11.6%.

The overall prevalence of influenza among ILI samples (n=126) in the community was 13% (preliminary) in the past four weeks. Of all the influenza virus isolates collected in May 2011, influenza A (H3N2) and influenza B each constituted 34.6% whilst influenza A (H1N1-2009) comprised 30.8%.

Influenza indicators for E-week 23 (5 - 11 Jun 2011) are as follows:
The number of patients seeking treatment in polyclinics for Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) was 12,726 in E-week 23 (daily average of 2,314 over 5.5 working days), compared to 12,696 in E-week 22 (daily average of 2,308 over 5.5 working days).

The proportion of cases with Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) among the polyclinic ARI cases was low at 1%.

The number of patients seeking treatment in polyclinics for Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) was 13,995 in E-week 26 (daily average of 2,545 over 5.5 working days), compared to 13,079 in E-week 25 (daily average of 2,378 over 5.5 working days).

The proportion of cases with Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) among the polyclinic ARI cases was low at 2%.
The overall prevalence of influenza among ILI samples (n=220) in the community was 49% (preliminary) in the past four weeks. Of all the influenza virus isolates collected in June 2011, influenza A (H3N2) constituted 83% whilst influenza A (H1N1-2009) and influenza B constituted 11% and 6% respectively .
