As of Monday noon (3 Aug), the Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed an additional 226 cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore, the vast majority of whom are Work Permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories.

This brings the total number of infection cases to 53,051.

There is one case in the community involving a Prison inmate on Short-Term Visit Pass, who had arrived in Singapore before the implementation of border measures

New daily cases detected in Singapore are at their highest since last May, 908, most in barracks where hundreds of thousands of foreign workers were confined in April to combat the pandemic.


908 new Covid-19 cases in Singapore, including 1 in community and 4 imported

There were 908 new coronavirus cases confirmed as of Wednesday noon (Aug 5), taking Singapore's total to 54,254.

Singapore has had 27 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died of other causes.
