Singapore has had its first dengue death this year. The victim, a woman who had been transferred from Changi General Hospital to Gleneagles Hospital under an existing agreement between the two, died on Wednesday.

The number of dengue cases in Singapore has continued to climb, hitting nearly a 10-week high of 485 cases last week.

SINGAPORE: The number of dengue cases in Singapore has continued to climb, hitting nearly a 10-week high.

There were 485 cases reported last week, from January 5 to 11.

This was an increase of 48 cases from the preceding week -- 29 December 2013 to 4 January 2014 -- and the highest since late October...

SINGAPORE - More than 7,100 people have been infected with dengue so far this year - and more than 1,000 have needed to be hospitalised, new official figures reveal.

Dengue cases continue to be on the rising trend, the National Environment Agency said on its dengue website.

DENV-1, the strain of virus that caused the 2013 epidemic, remains dominant. NEA expressed concern that a large proportion of Singapore's population is still susceptible to dengue infection due to the lack of immunity.
The hotter months of June to October are also when NEA usually sees higher transmission of dengue in Singapore. This is due to shortened breeding and maturation cycles for the Aedes mosquitoes and shorter incubation periods for the dengue virus.

SINGAPORE ? The number of dengue cases in Singapore each week has continued to climb as the weather heats up, speeding up mosquito breeding.

A total of 556 cases were reported in the week ending June 21, up from 506 the previous week and more than double the 261 cases reported in the first week of last month, latest figures on the National Environment Agency (NEA) website showed.

Parts of Hougang and Serangoon that had been flagged as areas of concern by the NEA last week ? more than 600 dengue cases have been reported in 17 clusters in those areas to date ? continue to be hot spots...

Last week was Singapore's worst ever for dengue infections, with 898 reported.

This was 56 higher than the number of cases in the previous worst week - in June last year - and about a third up on the previous week's total of 674.

And the situation looks unlikely to improve.

The National Environment Agency (NEA), which released the figures yesterday, said its Gravitrap surveillance system - comprising about 3,000 traps across the island - shows that the population of adult Aedes aegypti mosquitoes has doubled since May.

There have been 9,697 dengue cases in total reported this year, with Den-1 - the strain of virus that caused an epidemic last year - accounting for almost 90 per cent of the infections.

The number of dengue cases reported this year reached 11,225 as of 3.30 pm on Monday (July 21), adding more than 1,000 cases to the 10,112 cases reported on July 10.

SINGAPORE: The number of dengue cases continues to climb in Singapore, with more than 1,000 dengue cases added to the figure reported on July 10, according to data from the National Environment Agency (NEA).

The NEA website on dengue showed that 11,225 cases of dengue were reported since the start of 2014, 1,113 more than the 10,112 cases reported as of July 10.

There are concerns over reported cases at the National University of Singapore's University Town (UTown). As of Monday (Aug 11), there have been 13 cases in the area...

...According to statistics on the National Environment Agency's website, the number of cases hit a high of 891 for the period of Jun 29 till Jul 5. It dropped to 483 cases in the next four weeks, but rose to 548 last week.

Woman, 81, dies of dengue

An 81-year-old woman from Serangoon North has died of dengue at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH).

The Ministry of Health (MOH) and the National Environment Agency (NEA) said in a joint press release that they have been notified of the death of the dengue patient at TTSH and wished to "express our deepest condolences to the family of the patient".

She was first seen at the TTSH Emergency Department on Sept 6 and diagnosed with dengue. ​​Her condition deteriorated and she died today. (Sept 13)

SINGAPORE - A 78-year-old woman from Woodlands has died from dengue.

She was first seen and admitted at Tan Tock Seng Hospital on Friday (Oct 31). Her condition, however, deteriorated and she died on Tuesday.

She is the fourth person to have died from dengue this year.

SINGAPORE - A 69 year-old man has died from dengue, the fifth person to have fallen to the disease this year.

The patient was a Chinese man who lived at Chuan Terrace. He was admitted to Mount Alvernia Hospital on Monday, said the Health Ministry and National Environment Agency in a statement on Thursday evening.

His condition deteriorated and he subsequently passed away on Thursday.
