Senior Health Council authorizes import of Tamiflu
The health minister, Maria Isabel Rodriguez confirmed that two companies have been authorized to purchase the drug, but said he was concerned that this will be sold in bulk and do not have control of it.

The health minister, Maria Isabel Rodriguez reported that the Higher Council of Public Health has authorized two companies to import the country's Tamiflu, the drug is administered to patients who have been diagnosed with influenza type A H1N1.
The official, who did not specify what companies are authorized by the Council, said he was concerned that the medicine will be sold in bulk and do not have control over that.
The drug, he added, should be administered only to patients who are found to have the virus and to be treated.
Rodriguez said that if Tamiflu is used for other patients who are not having the flu virus, it could generate some complications.
However, there is an element that gives you peace of mind to the minister of health, and that the Council has stated that the medicine will be administered by a medical prescription and with a firm responsible.
The medicine for the flu will be marketed under the same condition as sold some drugs that are administered with certain limitations.
"So it has calmed down, because as these drugs come to market, we are concerned that they will be being taken by people who do not need it and they will produce complications," he added.
The official reported that the country maintains the same 69 cases of influenza, and said 17 suspected cases under consideration. Besides that there are 260 people who had contact with people affected by the flu being reported.
He warned that the private schools where they were detected some cases of influenza in the beginning had shown resistance to close, but the requirement of health authorities have access.
Rodriguez said he expects that people maintain preventive measures, especially now that the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the pandemic disease.
