Senegal records two cases of poliomyelitis

Dakar, Senegal (PANA) - The Senegalese Minister of Health and Prevention, Modou Diagne Fada, on Thursday announced in Dakar that the country has recorded two cases of poliomyelitis, the first cases since 1998.
He said a nationwide vaccination campaign, which targeted children under-five years, would be carried out from 6 to 9 March.
Poliomyelitis, which is caused by the virus, is a very serious and contagious infectious illness that can cause paralysis of the limbs, or even death.
