Senegal has 1,709 positive cases of Covid-19, including 650 cured. The treatment centers still welcome 1,040 patients.
After convening the National Epidemic Management Committee, the Head of State, Macky Sall, is to address the Nation on Tuesday to discuss the situation and the management of the pandemic.
In a previous announcement on March 23, he declared a state of emergency and a curfew to stem the spread of the Covid-19.
Despite a slow progression of the disease since its appearance in the country, contaminations have increased in recent weeks, with in particular the appearance of several community cases.

Out of 917 tests carried out, 177 returned positive to the coronavirus, ie a positivity rate of 19.3%. There are 169 follow-up contact cases and 8 cases from community transmission distributed as follows: Libert? 1 (1), Mbao (1), Pikine (1), Tambacounda (3) and Touba (2).

Extra-hospital care has started and concerns asymptotic positive patients, aged under 50 and not suffering from any other disease. They will be followed in places fitted out for their treatment by qualified medical personnel.

Dakar - The Senegalese Minister of Health and Social Action, Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr, announced on Tuesday 109 new Covid-19 contaminations, bringing to 1233 the total number of cases identified in the country since March 2.
During the daily press briefing on the situation of the pandemic, Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr announced that 109 tests returned positive out of the 1099 tests carried out, representing a positivity rate of 9.91%.
On Monday, President Macky Sall announced the easing of the state of emergency in effect since March 23 to stem the spread of the coronavirus.
In a speech to the Nation, the Head of State announced a relaxation of the state of emergency including the reduction of the duration of the curfew, the reopening of places of worship and markets, the resumption of classes in the exam classes, June 2, and a reorganization of the office hours, fixed from 9 am to 4 pm.
Among the new cases, 107 are follow-up contact cases, while the other 2 are from community transmission, according to Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr.
The minister reported that 27 patients were declared cured, bringing the total number of cures to 742.
Currently, 1233 patients out of the 1995 cases recorded in Senegal are under treatment, while there are 19 deaths.
