On februari 7 and 8 the European countries held their regular meeting on animal diseases, incl. the outbreak of the Schmallenberg-virus.

The virus hit 5 countries, they presented the current situation .

Very interesting new presentation of EFSA regarding Schmallenberg virus.

among other things:

- maps showing the spread of midge species

- More holdings confirmed in Luxembourg and Spain; suspected cases in more countries.

- If SBV has overwintered, SBV-problems in 2013 could be comparable with 2012, however in previously not affected areas, especially in southern and eastern regions.
