Sydney Hanks dies days after testing positive for Type A influenza

ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. ?

An Upstate teenager who had the flu has died from complications, according to the coroner.

Coroner Greg Shore said Sydney Hanks, 19, died at AnMed Health?s emergency room on Jan. 30.

Hanks went into cardiac arrest at home and was taken to the hospital by paramedics, Shore said.

Shore said Hanks had tested positive for Type A influenza. He said she was at higher risk of complications because of other health issues, which he could not elaborate upon...
