Santa Catarina State records first flu case of the year

The state of Santa Catarina recorded this Thursday (21 / 4) the first case of influenza A (H1N1) - swine flu in 2010. According to state Department of Health, is a man of 34 years who lives in the city of Papanduva, the northern state. He was treated and well. Three other people who have symptoms of the disease are awaiting test results.
Since the first confirmed case of swine flu in Brazil in April 2009, more than 58 000 people contracted the disease. Died 1632. Only the first three months of this year, there were 45 deaths. According to World Health Organization (WHO), the disease has reached 213 countries and caused 17 400 deaths. The WHO says it is too early to announce the end of the pandemic and would be unwise to reduce the alert level, which should continue at least for the next six months.
The H1N1 virus is already responsible for 99.4% of cases of flu in the Americas. In some countries, like Canada and Cuba, the index reaches 100%. Second swing of the Ministry of Health, so far over 32 million people were vaccinated against swine flu in Brazil.
