San Patricio County confirms third swine flu death
41-year old corrections officer died Tuesday

BEEVILLE ? A third San Patricio County resident died from complications related to the swine flu, health officials confirmed.
Mark Stephen Tognacci, 41, of Aransas Pass man died Tuesday in Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville, said the county health department?s medical director Dr. James Mobley and county health and medical director Dolores Bacon.
Tognacci, who worked as a Texas Department of Criminal Justice corrections officer at the T.J. McConnell Unit in Beeville, was admitted to the hospital Nov. 21 and released Nov. 25. He was readmitted Dec. 1 in serious condition, Mobley said.
Tognacci was considered obese, Mobley said.
The 1986 Aransas Pass High School graduate also was a reserve police officer in Aransas Pass. His mother, Sandra Tognacci, could not be reached for comment.
A 48-year-old Portland man and a 54-year-old Gregory man died of H1N1 virus complications in November. Nueces County has had nine swine-flu related deaths, and Jim Wells has reported one.
San Patricio County is working to control the virus? spread by immunizing school aged children, Mobley said.
Wednesday, the San Patricio County Health Department vaccinated 638 Aransas Pass Independent School District students.
Sinton and Odem school districts intend to hold vaccination clinics next week, if a supply of the vaccine is delivered this week as expected, Mobley said.
?We are going to give it to anybody that will hold still for it,? Mobley said.
