Three new swine flu deaths reported

Three more people have died of swine flu in San Bernardino County, raising the total to 11, the county public health officer announced this morning.
"All of these (three) cases had underlying conditions and, unfortunately, included a 4-month-old infant, a 25-year-old male and a 43-year-old woman," Dr. Maxwell Ohikhuare said in a written statement. "Anyone with a chronic illness should be especially careful to take precautions that will limit the chances of becoming infected with this virus."
San Bernardino County has reported 235 confirmed cases of the pandemic flu to the state. Most of those patients have experienced mild to moderate symptoms and have fully recovered, according tot he statement.
The county Public Health Department expects to receive its first shipment of pandemic influenza vaccine in about two weeks. Clinics alredy are vaccinating peoople against the seasonal flu. Health officials are recommending that everyone receive both vaccines.
"People who have flu-like symptoms should stay home from work or school and limit contact with others," the statement says. "It's best to wait at least 24 hours after a fever returns to normal, without the use of fever-reducing medications, before resuming normal activities."
