Pathogenic avian flu reported in South Korea's port city

A case of pathogenic bird flu was reported in Busan, South Korea's southeast port city, leading the quarantine authorities to cull about 580 poultry, Yonhap News Agency reported Wednesday.
It marked the first time in seven years that the case of pathogenic avian influenza (AI) is reported in the country's second-biggest city.
Preliminary test confirmed that it was a H5 strain, and an in- depth test would be done to determine whether it is positive for " highly" pathogenic AI.
The poultry farm, where the AI case was reported, planned to cull about 400 wild geese, 100 chickens, 50 doves and 30 ducks.
