Ducks Culled in Gimje on Suspicion of AI Infection

About ten-thousand ducks have been culled at a farm in Gimje, North Jeolla Province as a precautionary measure after a suspected case of bird flu was reported there.
The provincial government said Sunday that it culled and buried 12-thousand ducks and destroyed 600-thousand duck eggs as a precautionary measure after some ducks at the farm were tested positive for H5N8, a highly pathogenic strain of bird flu. The final test results will be released on Monday.
The government prohibited the delivery of poultry within a three-kilometer-radius of the farm, as there are about 300-thousand chickens and ducks at eleven other poultry farms.
The provincial government set up 13 guard posts within a three-kilometer-radius of the farm as part of quarantine measures.
