28 locations were confirmed H5N8 virus infection

A duck breeding farm in the district of Jincheon, North Chungcheong Province was confirmed to be infected with the avian influenza virus H5N8 highly pathogenic.
This is the first time since December 2003, avian influenza virus was detected in the area of North Chungcheong Province in central South Korea.
Thus far, 28 sites were discovered or confirmed avian influenza virus, including 23 sites in North Jeolla Province, 2 locations in South Jeolla Province and South Chungcheong.
Also, in Pyeongtaek and Hwaseong city, neighborhood capital, also found signs of suspicion about the possibility of this virus. The area surrounding the capital, is home to most of the poultry farms in Korea with 53 million chickens, the species most susceptible to the flu.
Meanwhile, the Korean government has stepped up anti-bird flu by the declaration on the virus concentration in the farm chickens, ducks.
Accordingly, the Government will examine the whole farm chickens, ducks from now until the end of February and the entire force poultry farms have tested clinically infected prior to slaughter or to another place .
