Ticks Bit Over 500 Children in Primorye
Dangerous insects are 60% more active than usually
VLADIVOSTOK, May 25, vladivostoktimes.com Ticks have bitten 1, 783 thousand people in Primorye since the beginning of this season.
As the territory administration of Rospotrebnadzor reported to RIA PrimaMedia, 518 children are on the list of victims.
One case of tick-borne encephalitis is confirmed; a child is infected with it.
Nine people were taken to hospital with suspicion of tick-borne encephalitis.
Over 160 hectares were treated against ticks. These are territories of children health camps and recreation centers.
According to the experts, ticks are 58% more active than last years in average.
It's peak of ticks' activity and one should be very careful. Ticks bites can give several dangerous infections, including tick-borne encephalitis, Lime's disease (tick borreliosis).
During countryside trips one should use insect repellents, cover his body with clothes.
One mustn't crush found ticks with his hands because it can cause poisoning.
