Rosselkhoznadzor confirms outbreak of bird flu in southern Russia
The virus was detected in geese and turkeys in the Krasnodar Territory and Rostov Region
Rosselkhoznadzor recorded in the Krasnodar region of avian influenza outbreak in geese on the farm of a local businessman and turkeys in the Rostov region, the agency reported on Friday.
"Marginal Veterinary Laboratory in samples of pathological material taken from geese <...> has identified the virus genome," - said in a statement.
It was announced by the Rosselkhoznadzor, the staff of the State Veterinary Service took dysfunctional farm under control.
In neighboring Rostov region gene of avian influenza virus was detected in "turkeys kept at two sites."
Sanitary control in the autumn of 2016 warned about the threat of the spread of avian influenza in the territory of Russia in connection with the migration of birds and poultry farmers, businessmen advised to avoid contact with them.
The outbreak in Russia this year already recorded in Tuva and Kalmykia.
