In Yekaterinburg, increasing incidence of meningitis among children

Yekaterinburg, July 18 (New Region, Julia Shepherd) - Yekaterinburg increased incidence of meningitis, especially among children under 14 years of age. In this regard, sanvrachi not recommend swimming in the ponds and there are unwashed berries.

Most disease is "crippled" children under the age of 14 - 70%. The highest incidence is registered in Chkalovsky district, Upper Iset District and Leninsky district. It should be noted, in most cases, enteroviruses cause a latent infection or mild symptoms of various diseases. However, they may manifest as serous meningitis epidemic of pain in the muscles, myocarditis, angina, epidemic hemorrhagic conjunctivitis, respiratory and gastro-intestinal disorders, and febrile illnesses. From the beginning of infection until the first clinical manifestation is from 2 to 10 days.
"The main risk factors for the summer season are bathing in polluted waters with viruses, the use of unwashed fruits and vegetables, drinking water quality is not guaranteed," - added to the department.
