Rosselkhoznadzor - on the threat of bird flu
16 September 12:16

The Rosselkhoznadzor Administration for Khakassia, Tuva and the Kemerovo Region - Kuzbass informs citizens and heads of poultry farms about the registration in the territory of the Russian Federation of foci of highly pathogenic avian influenza of the H5N1 serotype in the population of poultry and wild avifauna.

To date, outbreaks of a particularly dangerous disease are noted in the following subjects of the Russian Federation: in the Omsk region (24 unsuccessful foci), Tyumen (9 unsuccessful foci), Chelyabinsk (3 unsuccessful foci) and Kurgan (3 unsuccessful foci) regions. In connection with the active seasonal migration of migratory birds, experts predict a further deterioration of the epizootic situation in terms of the disease.

Given the threat of the emergence and spread of the avian influenza virus in the controlled area, the Office reminds residents of the need to comply with disease prevention measures, including:

- to inform the state veterinary service of the region about the presence of poultry in personal subsidiary farms in order to carry out the necessary preventive measures for the existing livestock.

- prevent poultry from walking (going out) outside the yard, exclude contact of poultry with wild birds, especially waterfowl.

- to carry out the sale and purchase of poultry and ornamental poultry in places of authorized trade only if there are accompanying veterinary documents.

- observe the veterinary and sanitary rules for keeping poultry.

- ensure that windows and doors are marked, excluding the possibility of wild and synanthropic birds entering the premises for storing feed and keeping birds.

- store feed for poultry and ornamental poultry in tightly closed watertight containers, inaccessible for contact with wild birds.

- to carry out the slaughter of poultry intended for sale in trade at specialized enterprises.

- if dead birds are found or a sick bird is found on the street, in private households of citizens, it is necessary to immediately inform the state veterinary service of the region at the place of detection or keeping of the bird in order to carry out the necessary measures to test the bird for influenza.

In order to prevent avian influenza in humans, it is necessary:

- observe the rules of personal hygiene, including not storing purchased raw poultry meat and eggs together with products that will not be heat-treated (bread, cheese, sausage, confectionery, etc.).

- to purchase poultry meat and eggs for food in places of authorized trade only if there are accompanying veterinary documents.

- eat poultry and eggs after heat treatment: boil the egg for at least 10 minutes, meat - for at least 30 minutes at a temperature of 100 ? C.

- exclude contact with waterfowl and synanthropic birds (pigeons, sparrows, crows, seagulls, ducks, jackdaws, etc.).

- avoid contact with suspicious or dead birds.

Dangerous virus seeped into a new section of the Omsk region

Avian influenza continues to seep into new areas of the Omsk region. Another outbreak, according to the official portal of legal information, was identified in a personal subsidiary farm in the working village of Maryanovka, Maryanovsky district of Omsk region. By decree of the Governor of September 15, 2020, there and in villages within the threatened zone until October 14, 2020, a quarantine for highly pathogenic avian influenza was established.

“To establish, for a period until October 14, 2020, restrictive measures (quarantine) for highly pathogenic avian influenza in the territory of: 1) an unfavorable point located within the boundaries of a personal subsidiary farm, located at: the working settlement of Maryanovka; 2) the threatened zone to a depth of 5 kilometers from the borders of the unfavorable point, including the working village of Maryanovka, the villages of Alekseevka, Petrovka, Usovka Maryanovka, Maryanovskiy municipal district of the Omsk region, ”the decree of the governor of the Omsk region says.

According to the decree, during the quarantine period, access to facilities where sick or suspected birds, vehicles and unauthorized persons are located is prohibited on the territory of disadvantaged areas. In addition, poultry walking outside the boundaries of their keeping facilities, the export of poultry, eggs, other poultry products, feed, inventory, equipment, and droppings are prohibited. Trading in poultry is also prohibited.

Since August 2020, the bird flu virus has been "walking" in the districts of the Omsk region. Infection of birds and, accordingly, the subsequent introduction of quarantine occurred in Bolsherechensky, Gorkovsky, Kalachinsky, Kormilovsky, Krutinsky, Maryanovsky, Moskalensky, Muromtsevsky, Nizhneomsky, Okoneshnikovsky, Omsk, Poltava, Sargatsky, Tyukalinsky and Cherlaksky districts.

We add that all poultry in the Omsk region, even indirectly suspected of bird flu, is being destroyed. As the infected livestock is destroyed in disadvantaged areas, quarantine is canceled...

In the Sverdlovsk region, an emergency regime was introduced in 11 territories due to diseases of pigs and birds

The emergency regime due to diseases of livestock and poultry is already operating in 11 municipalities of the Sverdlovsk region, including Yekaterinburg. As Znak.com was told in the veterinary department of the Sverdlovsk region, an emergency in connection with African swine fever is operating in the Kamyshlovsky municipal district, the Gornouralsky and Pyshminsky urban districts, in Bogdanovich, Sukhoy Log, the Irbit municipal district and Nizhny Tagil. An emergency situation for avian influenza has been declared in the Aramil and Sysertsky urban districts and in Yekaterinburg.

An outbreak of African blue plague was recorded in the village of Kalinovsky, Kamyshlovsky district at the end of September. Then, within a radius of 20 kilometers around the farm, a sanitary protection zone was established, and an access regime was introduced. The pig population and products were to be disposed of. But in the future, the emergency regime was introduced in other municipalities.

Chickens with confirmed H5N1 flu were found in one of the private farms in the village of Patrushi. After that, the veterinary services introduced quarantine on the territory of the farm and announced that sick birds would be destroyed. There is no risk of getting contaminated meat to the public. The meat was not sold from the farm.

“Disinfection of its areas and adjacent territory is being carried out. Within a radius of 5 kilometers on farms, all birds are vaccinated against avian influenza (vaccination is the only effective way to prevent the spread of the disease). A surveillance zone has been established within a radius of 10 kilometers from the farm, ”the veterinary department noted.

The causes of the virus are being investigated. “Veterinarians once again remind the owners of personal subsidiary farms that it is strictly forbidden to let poultry go free-range, where there is a risk of contact with wild birds,” the department added.

From the neighboring Tyumen region, due to the bird flu quarantine, all chickens at the Borovsk poultry farm will be destroyed. We can talk about 4.5 million heads.

There is no data on how many pigs and birds were destroyed in the Sverdlovsk region.

In Izhevsk, 88 heads of birds with highly pathogenic influenza were destroyed
17:40, October 25, 2021
Andrey Biryukov

Izhevsk. Udmurtia. In the Izhevsk Lully microdistrict, 88 heads of birds were destroyed, which were infected with "bird flu". This was reported by the press service of the Rosselkhoznadzor Administration for the Kirov Region, the Udmurt Republic and the Perm Territory.

RNA of a dangerous virus was detected in material samples from a deceased chicken. As a result of further research, specialists have identified the genetic material of the H5N1 virus, better known as "bird flu".

In the place of stay of the sick chicken, 33 heads of birds were found dead, 55 more were seized and subsequently destroyed.

Now experts are taking measures to prevent the spread of the disease in the region.

Recall that the death of birds began on October 16. Veterinarians became aware of the infection only a few days after the first case, when the entire livestock died.

In addition, earlier in Udmurtia, the genome of the African swine fever virus was identified. The contaminated meat consignment came from Saratov.
