MRO buyers take note: The Asean Rubber Glove Manufacturers' Association (http://www.argma.com) has warned that rubber glove prices will inevitably increase due to higher rubber prices. Latex prices have reached an all-time high of more than $3/kg, and the upward trend is still intact.

"As latex constitutes more than 60% of the total production cost, it is inevitable that glove manufacturers have to pass the cost increase to their customers," says Henry Tong, chairman of the trade group that comprises glove associations in Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Natural rubber latex gloves are reported to be technically superior to synthetic rubber gloves in terms of barrier integrity. The association says that demand for natural rubber latex gloves remains strong because of ?ongoing concern on bird flu and other life-threatening diseases, as well as increasing awareness of hygiene for protection and safety.?
