RSV health warning as five children are interned in Pediatrics Regional Hospital


Although in recent weeks, the influenza A H1N1 is a disease that captures the attention of the authorities and comments from the public, the truth is that not the most dangerous respiratory pathogens in circulation.



The respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the concern to specialists because if complications can cause death, as happened this week with an infant six months old, who also suffered from a congenital malformation that worsened their situation.



The Chief of Pediatrics, Regional Hospital of Antofagasta, Antonio Cardenas, said that in addition to the RSV, already circulating in the environment and some adenovirus parainfluenza. Influenza A H1N1 is present, but with only one positive sample.



Factors
