In a species of pelicans in the Danube Delta has been detected avian influenza
Directorate Veterinary and Food Safety Tulcea was announced by the National Institute for Research and Development 'Delta', on 25 March, the presence of dead pelicans Ceaplace dead island, located in Lake Sinoe.

Even if the disease was found in an isolated area, wetland, located at the boundary between the counties of Tulcea and Constanta, developments in veterinary services is constantly monitored to prevent spread of the disease to domestic poultry flocks.
Please note that the disease is present in Bulgaria, veterinary services in neighboring confirmation notifying disease for the first time this year, all the Dalmatian Pelican copies of a nature reserve, on 28 January.
Revisit call to inform the population in the shortest time, veterinarian, any case of illness or death, as recorded in animals in the household.
ANSVSA implemented since 2005 a monitoring program of bird flu. Under this program, ANSVSA permanent inspection performed by laboratory tests on samples of blood, tracheal and cloacal swabs from poultry holdings located in areas of counties with high risk of cross-border and poultry imported under quarantine period. This program provides the specific objective of supervision migratory birds in the Danube Delta and performing within IDSA - The National Reference Laboratory for avian influenza - the isolates of avian influenza virus, the cloacal and organ samples taken from dead wild birds or hunted .

[TD]On 25 March, the County Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Directorate (CSVFSD) of Tulcea was notified by the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve Administration (ARBDD) about the identification of 64 carcasses of pelicans in an inhabited area, on Ceaplace island, Sinoe lake. This area is located at the border of Tulcea and Constanta Counties, and no other localities with domestic birds are found on a radius more than 10 km. The entire population of pelicans counted initially more than 250 birds, adults and young. Excluding the dead pelicans (found in different stages of putrefaction), no other birds were observed with clinical signs in the area.
