Bird flu has been confirmed in 28 swans found dead on the Bâtca Doamnei lake in Piatra Neamţ, announced the Veterinary Sanitary and Food Safety Directorate (DSVSA) Neamţ.
DSVSA Neamţ conveyed, on Friday, through a press release, that the county is affected by the H5N1 avian flu in regard to wild birds.

"At the level of Romania, Neamţ county is affected by the evolution of the highly pathogenic avian influenza, subtype H5N1, in wild birds from Bâtca Doamnei lake, Piatra Neamţ municipality, so far the disease has been diagnosed in a number of 28 swan corpses summer collected from the surface of the lake by DSVSA Neamt staff with the support of the representative of the National Agency for Natural Protected Areas and ISU Neamţ. On Tuesday, January 3, a new case of bird flu was diagnosed, in a flock of 15 swans, found dead on the Acumularea Fălticeni pond, within the range of a hunting fund in Suceava county, ANSVSA announces. The first samples taken show that the birds had the H5N1 virus. For now, bird flu has not reached people's households. But the breeders are asked to notify the authorities if they observe any sign of disease that they see in the birds.

A secondary outbreak of avian influenza with subtype H5N1 was confirmed at another turkey farm, BRAVCOD SRL – F1, on the Codlea livestock platform, located in the immediate vicinity of the farm where the primary outbreak was diagnosed, on January 27.

From the preliminary data of the epidemiological investigation, it emerged that there is a causal relationship between the two commercial farms, they use the same means of transport for feed and the same means of transport for the collection of corpses.
This farm, BRAVCOD SRL – F1, belongs to the same economic agent and has a flock of 44,477 turkeys...
