Rochester schools alert parents of H1N1 flu

Rochester Schools officials are alerting parents that cases of H1N1 flu virus have been reported, with a reminder to follow guidelines to flu prevention.
"We are beginning to receive reports that we have cases of flu, both seasonal and H1N1 in some of our schools," Rochester Schools Superintendent Dave Pruneau wrote in a letter sent by e-mail throughout the district Monday. "We will be continually monitoring this as it relates to our instructional setting."
He does not say which schools have reported cases of H1N1.
"The Health Division does not consider It necessary to notify parents if there are cases of H1N1 flu reported to the school," he writes.
The district is also reiterating flu prevention guidelines, including:
?Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze and throw the tissue in the trash after you use it. If a tissue is not available, cough or sneeze into your sleeve.
?Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after coughing or sneezing. Alcohol based hands cleaners are also effective.
?Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth because germs spread this way.
?Keep surfaces clean with soap and water or disinfectant wipe.
?Stay home from work or school if you are sick and limit contact with others to keep from infecting others.
