2 coronavirus deaths reported in Coachella Valley, the county’s 1st fatalities in the pandemic

Two coronavirus patients from the Coachella Valley have succumbed to the illness, marking the first deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Riverside County, health officials announced Monday.

In announcing the deaths, Riverside County Public Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser also revised the county’s prior order regarding public gatherings, restricting meetings of 10 or more people. The county previously said events with more than 250 people must be canceled.

The new deaths bring the total reported in California to eight, although Gov. Gavin Newsom said late Monday that at least two additional deaths in Northern California had not yet been included in the latest tabulation. He said 392 cases of the virus have been reported statewide.

Riverside County Reports Fourth Coronavirus Death

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA) – A fourth person has died of the coronavirus in Riverside County.

Riverside County Public Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser confirmed the death on Twitter Friday morning. No details were provided on the victim’s gender or age.

The Riverside University Health System has reported 22 total coronavirus cases so far. On Thursday, a vendor who works at the Rancho Mirage skilled nursing facility tested positive for coronavirus.

6th Coronavirus Death Confirmed In Riverside County
Riverside County announced its sixth death from COVID-19 Sunday and another confirmed case, bringing its total to at least 31.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — One additional COVID-19 death and one additional case were reported Sunday in Riverside County, bringing the countywide death count to six and the number of confirmed cases to 31, according to health officials.

The new confirmed case and death were reported in the Coachella Valley, where all of the county's COVID-19 deaths have occurred.
