The health threat vector has doubled this year.
The Anopheles has been commissioned to increase the risk of infection by malaria.
According Orlinda Nicolas Zambrano, chief of the National Program for Prevention and Control of Malaria, to date there has been an increase of 900 cases compared to last year.
6.428 cases are reported by health this year, while that 2008 cases were reported 5.939.
The disease can be caused by one or more of the different species of Plasmodium and transmitted by the Anopheles Plasmodium falciparum, Plasmodium vivax, Plasmodium malariae, Plasmodium ovale and Plasmodium knowlesi.
"More worrisome is that at present the cases of Plasmodium falciparum has increased, this type of disease being one of the most serious because it can cause cerebral malaria, leading to patient death," explained the expert.
There are now 803 confirmed cases of patients infected with Plasmodium falciparum in the country.
The departments of Gracias a Dios, Olancho, Atl?ntida and Yoro were most affected.
Health officials estimate that at year end would be able to control the outbreaks that have occurred in different regions of Honduras, but from now asking the population to join the destruction of breeding sites.
In the case of influenza A virus H1N1, last week reached the 600 positive cases, an increase of seven new cases. Women are in the block of the population at greatest risk of infection.
