Today I talked with a FWS migratory bird biologist in Anchorage. He said the 50% return rate I quoted from one bird group's site was definitely high.
The return numbers for Alaska are:
waterfowl - 50%
songbirds - 60-70%
seabirds - 90-95%
shorebirds - less than 90%
Regarding BF, he said they expect it is most likely to enter the state in smuggled birds or untested poultry.
