From April 6 to 12, 751 cases of dengue fever were confirmed in the department. 23 municipalities are concerned, including 66% of cases in the South.

The dengue epidemic continues to grow on the island, with a significant number of cases identified and a sharp increase in emergency room visits for dengue seen in recent weeks.
Although the majority of cases are still in the south of the island, an upsurge of cases is evident in the west and in the east, at Saint-Beno?t. In order to limit the spread of the virus, the ARS La R?union and SDIS teams are continuing their work in areas strongly affected by dengue fever, by integrating the barrier measures against the spread of covid-19.

In this context, the implementation of preventive measures by everyone against dengue is essential to curb the epidemic on the territory. The dengue epidemic continues to grow at a rapid pace.

From May 4 to 10, around 1,000 cases of dengue fever were reported, and an additional 5 deaths linked directly or indirectly to dengue fever, totaling 9 since the start of the year. The south of the island is still the most affected region, and case progression continues in the west and east.

ARS and SDIS vector control teams continue their interventions day and night by integrating barrier measures against the spread of Covid. These treatment operations are essential to fight against the epidemic, accompanied by the active mobilization of Reunion Islanders on a daily basis. Dengue fever in Reunion: 45 cases diagnosed
The figures show 45 cases of dengue on the island from July 20 to 26, 2020. There is a decrease in the circulation of the virus but the Prefecture calls for vigilance in a press release relating to this epidemic. We publish it in full below.

Dengue epidemic in R?union: the decline continues

From July 20 to 26, 45 cases of dengue fever were confirmed. Dengue surveillance indicators continue to decline. 19 municipalities remain affected by viral circulation: the west and the south account for 88% of cases.

The preventive actions, carried out by everyone on a daily basis, actively contribute to limiting the spread of the disease.
