Recent spike in Natrona County flu cases results in one death

One person has died of influenza in Natrona County this flu season, a victim of a spike in the number of reported cases locally, statewide and nationally the past couple weeks.

-snip-

In another case, Dowell said a ?perfectly healthy? 39-year-old contracted severe influenza and wound up on a ventilator for several days. Others have suffered respiratory failure or ended up in ICU. Dowell said many of those patients had some underlying condition that made those issues more likely, but not all. None of the patients in this season?s ?major cases? had been vaccinated, he added.
