The article mentions that this is an expansion of an initial recall announced on Dec. 21st. However, I'm not finding where this was previously announced and nothing shows up on the FDA recall list.

Text of announcement from Sam's Club:

"Published 12/23/2012 09:11 AM | Updated 12/26/2012 10:34 AM

Reason: Due to potential contamination with Listeria.

Re: Recall: Smoked salmon sold at Sam's Club recalled due to Listeria

Thanks. :)

I did see that, and another from earlier in Dec., but none of the corporate or producer's names, or UPC/batch numbers seem to match.

It could just be that the announcement of Dec. 21st was a casualty of the bureaucratic black hole created by holiday scheduling.

But at least it's being publicized now. Hopefully before too many people use smoked salmon for their holiday party munchies!

There are no confirmed illnesses and the voluntary recall is being issued with an over abundance of caution.

A recent routine lab test on a shipment, that was not distributed, showed that finished product had the bacterium present. We are recalling all related product that could potentially be affected.
