Re: Realistic Goals for a Pandemic Event
Economic Stability may be a tough goal to even address.
Absolutely! Way over my pay grade!
But may I explain why I believe its of value on this list?
First- I beleive its likely to be one if the main goals of most goverments, along with goverment stability . so understanding that goal may help us interpet why things are done as they happen. Those smarter than I may even see signs of sudden changes or prepositioning that might portend something coming our way.
Secondly, its an issue- like all the issues that are MetaGoals- that directly affects the majorty of individuals. IMHO noone will escape the effects of a worldwide depression, and they may be quite long lasting.
As such- I think it can still be prepared for. Even if preventing such a thing is beyond the scope of our project here, at least the awareness we create may help some people and families to buffer the personal effects. A "trickle down effect" of the stated goal of this thread if you will!

and IMHO thats
another good use for the whole project youre proposing eladdie-individuals can look at those goals, at the things that are posted about them, then identify which failures would impact them, and then plan for what would help mitigate the negative impacts.
There may be strategies or lessons that we can take from previous economic downturns and apply to the current situation, and see if they might be of help-of a regional, national or even personal level. That may be the best we can hope for when adressing this goal- but that is astill a lofty goal on its own, IMHO. (even if they just tell us what the PTB might try to stimulate the economy if this happens, and how it may help/hurt us-knowledge is power)
I think many of the preps that help people be more self reliant thru a pandemic or other emergency will also help them with a depression. Especially those things that are sustainable, gardens, woodburning stoves, etc. Addressing the economic failure goal means looking at those preps and figuring out which ones can help in the long term -like years instead of months...tweaking it so to speak, to take preparation to the next level.
I think anything that helps us as groups or individuals think things out and be more flexible, aware and prepared for this or any emergency has value.
