Jaipur: Accepting that health department officers have presented incorrect data while revealing the number of deaths caused by fever, health minister AA Khan, instead of taking any action in this direction, stated, ?The department lacks staff?but the reason for deaths should be looked into.?

Karuali Congress president Alka Meena told Khan that so far 14 and 13 deaths have taken place in Karuali and Hindon respectively and the situation is serious.

The core committee of six doctors has recommended the National Institute of Communicable Disease (NICD) and National Institute of Virology (NIV) to conduct a survey to understand causal factors of the numerous cases of fever, fatigue and respiratory disorders being reported at the Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital.


The committee accepted there has been a significant rise in number of people reporting fever in the last 4-5 days. Patients with high fever have reported an accompanying difficulty in breathing.


In its report, the team also said there is Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) in some patients, which is a cause for concern. The number of male and female patients is almost equal.


?The situation demands our total attention. But there is no need to worry as the mortality rate is quite low (0.1%) in such cases,? doctors said, adding with medication most cases of recurring fever get resolved in 3-4 days.


Meanwhile, the number of patients at OPD crossed the 8,000-mark. The OPD, which keeps patient registration record from midnight to midnight, registered 8,427 patients on Monday. During the period, there were 573 patients registered in IPD.

Seven kids die of fever in Kota

JAIPUR: At least seven children have died in the last seven days in Kumbhkot area of Kota district due to fever. Also, over 15 patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in Kota.

A team of doctors, including microbiologists, visited Kumbhkot area on Friday to find out what caused the fever among people in the area. The doctors took blood samples of around 36 people for test but they did not find even a single confirmed case of vector-borne disease, according to government doctors and district administration officials.

"In the last seven days, seven children up to the age of 14 years have died. The symptoms of the disease are stomach ailment, fever, head ache and later the patient bleed from nose and mouth. All the deaths have happened in a similar way. The medical health and family welfare doctors claimed that dengue is not the cause of the deaths. They are not accepting that the deaths happened due to spread of dengue though the symptoms are similar to dengue."

One more dies of fever in Kota; facilities increased in hospitals

JAIPUR: One more person died of fever in Kumbhkot in Kota district on Saturday where seven children have already died due to fever in past eight days.

Health department officials said that a door-to-door survey has been conducted and the children with fever have been referred to JK Lon hospital in Kota. They said that three children were tested positive for dengue in the past eight days.
