Mystery fever in Alwar identified as Scrub Typus

ALWAR: The mystery fever in Alwar's Rajgarh and Raini areas, which caused at least 60 deaths, has been identified as Scrub Typus caused by Trombiculid mites.

According to experts from National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and Sawai Man Singh Hospital, who have been groping the dark for the past 15 days, said the disease was spread by rats.

Collector Ashutosh A T said it has been confirmed in the NCDC report of patients' swab samples that the fever, which caused the deaths, was Scrub Typus.
