Jaipur, Sept 29: A 40-year-old woman died of swine flu in Ajmer, taking the death toll due to H1N1 virus in last two months to 15 in the state, an official said today. The woman had died on September 26 and with her death the toll due in the state rose to 15 in August and September, a health department official told PTI here.

[h=1]12 more swine flu cases reported in Rajasthan[/h] Jaipur: With at least 12 more swine flu cases reported in the last seven days in Rajasthan, the total number of people found H1N1 virus positive in the state since January has crossed the 6,800 mark, an official said on Tuesday.




"Swine flu positive cases total up to 6,803 from January 1 till October 26," a health department official told IANS.
The official said the death toll due to the highly contagious H1N1 virus from January to October 26 was 460. A maximum of 91 deaths were reported from Jaipur.
The maximum number of 2,471 positive cases was recorded in Jaipur, followed by 370 in Jodhpur, 325 in Ajmer and the remaining in other cities and towns of the state.
Meanwhile, the Rajasthan government has launched an awareness campaign on swine flu in a big way.

JAIPUR: After Diwali, viral fever has taken the city in its grip. According to the doctors, there is a possible mutation in viruses causing viral fever. "Society has its own immunity against the diseases. The community develops immunity against viruses but every year there are chances that they mutate partially to affect the community. The virus, which is targeting people, is a seasonal virus but partial mutation cannot be ruled out," Dr C L Nawal, professor and head of department of medicine, Sawai Man Singh hospital said.

Another SMS hospital doctor said that in some cases, it is seen that patients are taking more time for recovery from the fever. Usually, it takes three days to recover from the fever but it is a concern that in some cases, it is taking more than three days.

The fever, which is victimising people, is known as viral influenza. In such cases, the WBC count reduces, platelets also decrease while liver function modifies. Also, persistent lethargy lingers on for three-four days.
