JAIPUR: Health officials are a worried lot with first 25 days of January in state having witnessed more swine flu cases than in the entire 2014. One more person died of swine flu on Sunday and six others tested positive.

So far, in January at least 80 persons have tested positive for swine flu. In 2014, there were 67 persons who tested positive for the disease. The health officials now face the daunting challenge of controlling the spread of swine flu as the cases are scattered. So far the disease has claimed at least 23 lives.

"At least 99% of the deaths reported this year were of patients who were in the age bracket of 15 to 60 years. They all belonged to different areas of the city," a senior health department official said.

Hasina Banopur from Jaipur and Pannalal (36) of Nagaur succumbed to the H1N1 virus, a medical and health department (MHD) official said PTI.

Of the 27 deaths due to swine flu in Rajasthan since January 1, nine persons were from Jaipur, three each from Nagaur and Jodhpur, two each from Tonk, Banswara, Kota, Barmer, and one each from Dausa, Bundi, Ajmer, and Bikaner.

24-yar-old Vinod of Sanganer sub-urban town here, died of the disease at the SMS hospital this morning, a senior government official said, adding, he was admitted to the hospital Tuesday in critical condition.

123 more patients were tested positive for the disease, he said.

JAIPUR: Two more persons died of swine flu on Thursday. Late on Wednesday, two more persons succumbed to the deadly flu taking the toll in Rajasthan to 33. The health department figures show that 12 more persons were tested positive for swine flu in the state.

The person succumbed to the H1N1 virus at Ajmer yesterday, the official said, adding that 437 of 1,388 persons were tested positive for the virus.
Out of 33 districts, 29 are affected with swine flu. Dholpur, Hanumangarh, Sirohi, and Baran were reported to be safe as per the Medical and Health Directorate (MHD) records, he said.
