Jaipur, Nov 22 (PTI) Two more persons succumbed to the swine flu in Rajasthan, taking the total number of fatalities from H1N1 virus in the state to 36.
Jodhpur resident Dariya Devi, aged 22, and 34-year-old Banwant Singh, hailing from Jaipur, were the latest victims of the swine flu, a state health department official said.

Both succumbed to the illness overnight, he said adding 52 more, including 20 children, had tested positive for H1NI.

So far, over 1,100 people have contracted the disease in the state, the official said.

45 test H1N1 positive in Rajasthan

Jaipur: As many as 45 persons including 15 children have been tested positive of H1N1 virus across Rajasthan.

Of 45 positive cases, 26 were from Jaipur, six from Jodhpur, five each from Kota and Udaipur, and three from Ajmer, a Medical and Health department official said.

In the state so far, 37 persons succumbed to the virus, while 1,170 were tested positive, the official added.

Jaipur, Nov 27 (PTI) Thirty-eight more people were today found infected with swine flu in Rajasthan, a medical official said here.

Of these, 18 were diagnosed in Jaipur, 14 in Jodhpur, and two each in Ajmer, Udaipur and Bikaner, he said.

So far, 38 people died due to H1N1 virus in the state and 1,396 tested positive for the deadly disease.

Jaipur, Nov 28 (PTI) Three more persons, including a woman, succumbed to swine flu in Rajasthan today pushing the death toll due to the disease to 42 in the state, official sources said.

Thirty two others, including 15 children, were tested positive of the virus in the state.

Ramesh (50) of Sikar district and Fatima (38) of Nagaur district died in SMS Hospital here while Gopal Sharma (38) died in Bikaner, an official of state Medical and Health Department said.

Jaipur, Dec 1 (PTI) Two more persons, including a girl, today succumbed to swine flu in Rajasthan, taking the number of fatalities from H1N1 virus to 49 in the state.

Daulat Singh, aged 24, and 20-year-old Kamla, afflicted with the disease, died in Jaipur and Jodhpur respectively, O P Gupta, Director of the State Medical and Health department, said.

Thirty-five more tested positive for the illness raising the number of those contracting the infection to 1595, he said.

Jaipur, Dec 2 (PTI) Swine flu claimed two more lives in Rajasthan today pushing the statewide toll in the pandemic to 54.

While a 20-year-old girl died in Ajmer, a man in his 30s died here, a health official said tonight.

Forty nine fresh cases of H1N1 influenza were also registered in Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota, Udaipur and Bikaner.

A total of 1644 persons have tested positive for the virus so far in the state.

New Delhi: Six swine flu deaths, three of them in Rajasthan alone, were reported Friday, taking the toll from influenza A (H1N1) virus in India to 606, health authorities said here.

Also, a record 290 new cases were reported in the country, taking the total number of people affected with the contagious flu to 19,162.

With the three deaths, the toll in Rajasthan has gone up to 57. Two deaths were also reported from the national capital, taking the total toll in the Indian capital to 28.


One death was reported from Gujarat, taking the number of deaths due to Influenza A (H1N1) virus in the state to 47.


Meanwhile, Delhi reported 186 cases of swine flu Friday -- the highest for a single day - taking the number of people affected with the virus to 5,603. The national capital Thursday reported 176 cases of swine flu.


The number of people affected with the virus in Delhi is now the highest in the country.


'Two deaths were reported today (Friday). A 40-year-old woman, who was a resident of Guru Ramdas Nagar, died in Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital,' Anjana Prakash, state's assistant nodal officer for swine flu cases, told IANS.


'Another woman died in Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. She was 60 years old and was a resident of Janakpuri. Both did not have any travel history. Both of them came late to the hospital and were already suffering from severe respiratory problems,' she added.


'Till date, samples from 90,068 people have been tested for Influenza A (H1N1) in government laboratories and a few private laboratories across the country and 19,162 of them have been found positive,' said a statement issued here.


New cases were also reported from Rajasthan (47), Maharashtra (20), Haryana (34), Uttar Pradesh (16), Tamil Nadu (14) and West Bengal (1).

JAIPUR: With the first death case reported in the Bhilwara and sixth in Nagaur district due to H1N1, this global pandemic is gradually moving towards the smaller towns in the state. The death tally in state has jumped to 61 on Friday, with 49 positive cases, including 29 in Jaipur. The number of schoolchildren down with swine flu is reported as 16.

Both the patients include a male from Bhilwara and a female from Nagaur aged 40 were admitted on December 1 breathed last in SMS Hospital on Friday. So far, 61 death cases have been reported in 15 districts in the state. Sawai Madhopur, Dholpur, Sirohi and Dungarpur are the only left out districts in the state where no positive case has been reported.

Even number of educational institutes with positive cases have been rising everyday. On Friday, seven new institutes, including one college of pharmacy in Sitapura have reported a positive case. Some of these schools have decided to shut down.

Woman from Rajasthan dies of swine flu in Gujarat

Ahmedabad, Dec 5 (PTI) A 36-year-old woman from Sanchor in Rajasthan has died of swine flu in Ahmedabd civil hospital, health officials said today.

According to the officials, Padmaben Purohit was brought to Ahmedabad civil hospital in a critical condition yesterday at around 1.15 pm and was immediately put on ventilator.

"She was brought in a critical condition at the hospital and was immediately put on ventilator. She died around 10.30 pm," a health department official added.

The deadly virus has so far claimed 47 lives in Gujarat, which does not include Padmaben's death as she was brought from Rajasthan, the officials said.

Ro's note: Not explained is where she was brought from. Sanchor is a town of around 50,000 with a 'primary health center'. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanchor . Ahmedabad is about 100 miles S by road from Sanchor. Jodhpur in Rajasthan is about 120 miles NE by road from Sanchor. The possibility that Rajasthan's ventilator capacity is under strain may be apparant here, but it could also be that Ahmedabad was easier to get to.

The deceased have been identified as Pradeep Pareek of Ajmer, Mamta (Bharatpur), Usha (Jaipur) and Seema (Jodhpur), the official said.

Besides 53 fresh cases were reported from across the state, taking the total number of affected persons so far in the state to 1807, he said.

Jaipur, Dec 6 (PTI) With the spread of swine flu in parts of the state, the virus today claimed three more lives in Rajasthan, raising the death toll to 72, health officials said here.

Two women from Jodhpur identified as Sushila Devi (35), Meetu Kanwar (52) succumbed to the disease while another woman Manju (45) from Kota died.

Besides the fatalities, 79 people including 17 children were diagnosed as swine flu positive in parts of the state, officials said.

Rajasthan has so far reported 1879 H1N1 positive cases.

JAIPUR: With four more patients succumbing to swine flu in the state, the death toll has reached 73.

Eleven students in nine institutes tested positive on Sunday. Among the total of 73 new cases, 32 patients are from Jaipur, while Bundi reported its first death.

Now only three districts are left that have not reported any deaths due to swine flu, these are Dholpur, Sirohi and Dungarpur.

Among the four deceased, three were women from Jodhpur, Nagaur and Bundi. So far, 22 deaths have been reported from Jodhpur against 255 positive cases reported so far.

Mortality rate in Jodhpur is the highest in the state, followed by Jaipur with 14 deaths and 1,161 positive cases.
The total number of positive cases in the state has jumped to 1,879 with around 900 being school children.

?The children are more vulnerable to this contagious disease due to their weak immunity system,? said Nimrat Bawa, a microbiologist.

On Sunday, four new institutes St Teresa Public School, Kids Club School, Sapling School and Rajasthan Engineering College for women (Bhankrota) reported new cases of swine flu.

However, some of these institutes have not decided on further action, as they are waiting for formal report from the nodal officer.

Despite all efforts by school authorities, positive cases in some schools continue to rise. On Sunday, two students of Neerja Modi School reported positive whereas MGD, Step By Step (Trimurti Circle), K B Public School and Poornima College of Engineering reported one case each.

JAIPUR: With four more persons succumbing to swine flu on Monday, the toll has reached 77 in the state. The total number of H1N1 patients has gone up to 1,934 with 55 fresh cases reported on Monday. Of these, 34 are from Jaipur, including 25 students.
Considering the gravity of the situation, chief minister Ashok Gehlot has authorised 31 private hospitals for treatment. He has also announced setting up a medical laboratory to carry out swine flu test in Jodhpur Medical College.

The state government has also released helpline numbers for swine flu to spread awareness about this contagious disease. The numbers are 3052222 and 409222. "Soon there will be medical labs to conduct H1N1 test in Ajmer, Bikaner, Kota and Udaipur," a government official said.

"Over 9 lakh schoolchildren have been screened in the state. In government and private medical hospitals, over 7.82 lakh patients have been screened so far," an official said. The deceased belonged to Ajmer, Jodhpur, Nagaur and Udaipur. Jodhpur has maximum number of 23 deaths reported so far. Jaipur and Nagaur ranked second and third with 14 and 8 death cases, respectively.

Meanwhile, a medical officer in Bikaner was suspended on charges of negligence. An inquiry was ordered against him for referring two swine flu cases to the civil hospital. "The charges levelled against him was approved by a team of medical officers. He was suspended immediately," R N Meena, district collector, Bikaner, said.

Swine flu test rates to be slashed in Rajasthan

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Government, grappling with the spread of H1N1 influenza virus in the State, has decided to reduce the swine flu test rates by 50 per cent in the government hospitals and announced free testing for pregnant women and children below five years of age.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, presiding over a high-level review meeting here on Tuesday, announced the decisions and issued instructions to the State Medical and Health Department to send a three-member team to his home town, Jodhpur, to review the pandemic situation there.

The team, headed by Principal Medical Education Secretary Chandramohan Meena, will find out sources as well as reasons for the virus infection spreading fast in Jodhpur. Mr. Gehlot said the patients would now pay Rs.1,500 [$30]instead of Rs.3,000 for the H1N1 test in the swine flu testing laboratories at government hospitals. The tests for patients belonging to the below poverty line (BPL) families and those admitted directly to the intensive care units of government hospitals are already being conducted free of cost.

The desert State has so far reported about 80 deaths due to H1N1 influenza, while there are about 1,950 swine flu cases presently being treated.

JAIPUR: Swine flu claimed five more lives in the state on Wednesday, taking the total toll up to 86. Jodhpur continued to lead the death chart with three more persons succumbing to the disease while another death is yet to be confirmed by officials. The other two deaths occurred in Jaipur and Churu.

Reports said three suspected patients also died in different hospitals in the state during the day. Apart from this, 56 more positive cases were registered on Wednesday. So far, 2,057 patients have been tested positive in the state. The maximum positive cases have been reported from Jaipur which has registered 1,248 patients so far, most of which were children below 15 years.

The government had announced a 50% reduction in test rates and made it free for pregnant women as well as children below five years. At SMS Hospital alone, more than 80 suspects turned up for testing on Wednesday.

"There is an increase in the number of patients but we have adequate arrangements to ensure timely testing," said an official of SMS Hospital. However, as more suspected patients were also registered at other hospitals of the city, the number of samples went far beyond the capacity of SMS Medical College laboratory.

According to sources, a maximum of 44 tests can be held per day in a testing machine at SMS Medical College. Since this falls short of the requirement, the government hospitals will have to take services of private laboratories.

Since the government has decided to reduce the test charges, the health department may have to bear the difference in charges of private laboratories.

68 tested positive of H1N1 in Rajasthan

Jaipur, Dec 11 (PTI) As many as 68 persons including 18 children were tested positive of H1N1 virus in Rajasthan taking total number of positive cases across the state to 2,187.

No death was reported due to flu today, according to official sources.

Of the positive cases, 38 and 16 cases were reported from Jaipur and Jodhpur respectively.

So far, in the state 91 patients have succumbed to the dreaded virus, and 2,187 were tested positive.
