Radio Interview with FluTrackers (Sharon Sanders)

Re: Interview with FluTrackers

Re: Interview with FluTrackers

Atlanta is probably not big enough to gather new members...
1642 members now.

I remember the TV-interview with Melanie from FW, that didn't give
many new members either.

Some joined after the Oprah Winfrey show with Osterholm

Re: Interview with FluTrackers

Congratulations as well.

I was listening to the Niman interview at:

http://www.radiosandysprings.com/

which is now on file and the announcer asked Niman about a French statistical study? (Spring 2007?) that may have suggested a critical mass at 500 cases, or at least that's what I got from the question. Does anyone know where I can find this study?

Thanks.

Re: Interview with FluTrackers

It was a pleasure having Sharon on www.radiosandysprings.com and it seems others enjoyed it as well. I look forward to her being a guest again in the future and would appreciate folks passing the word about the show so we can all work towards informing the public. FluTrackers is a great site and I look forward to working with you all.
Thank you and keep up the great work!

Yes I heard that too but I do not know the study. However I am not sure I would invest the time in looking. I can see no feasible explanation why 500 - or any other number -could be significant. If I understood correctly this is a cumulative number of fatal human cases which were in some way going to presage the start of the pandemic. How can a cumulative total create a critical mass? The start of the pandemic will occur once a viron with sufficiently well adapted genes - to humans - infects someone with enough contacts to sustain a transmission chain. The virus' ability to rapidly adapt to a new host will take it from there - as long as there are more people to infect. Any correlation between this and the 500th victim will be spurious.

Re: Interview with FluTrackers

JJackson - You have framed the issue of transmission very clearly. H5N1 could simmer for several more years before becoming easily transmissible or it could be aquiring the necessary changes this very minute. If it takes several years we could easily pass 500 individual cases without sustained human to human transmission. 500 is not a magic number.

if it takes several more years, we may eventually have
vaccine

After the first few sentences you may have been petrified but, it certainly didn't sound like you were. Great job Sharon.

Re: Interview with FluTrackers

I don't know what you were worried about, you did good girl. All questions deftly fielded. I was going to say you handled it like a pro but I am not sure that sends quite the right congratulatory message.

Re: Interview with FluTrackers

Seems you have done that always F1. You were great and focus.

Congratulations.

merge with radiosandysprings !
Operate FT through their webpage, give them a subforum for programs, announcements, transcripts, etc.
Posts could be transmitted by low-cost shortwave using automatic
voice-recognition software.
In exchange they advertise FT and get us new members
and more attention.
