QUEENSLAND'S swine flu toll has risen to 39 following the deaths of two women this week.
Queensland Health said two women with swine flu, aged 45 and 50, died in southeast Queensland hospitals on Tuesday.
Both were in the vulnerable group which are indigenous people, pregnant women, people with respiratory disease, heart disease, diabetes, renal and liver disease, obesity and immunosuppression, the department said.
Smokers are also at risk.
Fifty-eight people confirmed with swine flu are currently in Queensland hospitals, including 18 in intensive care.
