A HERVEY Bay woman has died after a two-week battle against meningococcal disease.

She was the second victim of the disease from Hervey Bay, after a four-year-old girl died last month, and the third death in Queensland this year.

The 66-year-old had been treated in the intensive care unit of the Royal Brisbane and Womens' Hospital for the past fortnight, after being airlifted from Hervey Bay hospital...

Health authorities suspect an outbreak of meningococcal disease at a recent North Queensland school camp.

The 14-year-old girl is being treated in Townsville Hospital for the disease, while a 15-year-old boy is undergoing tests, Queensland Health says.
