(Shawinigan) A quinquagenarian of the region died, at the end of last week, following complications linked to influenza A .Selon (H1N1) Radio-Canada Mauricie which brought back this decease yesterday, the man was in trip in Cuba when he felt the first symptoms of influenza. His state deteriorated until its return to Quebec, at the beginning of the month. There had come in the hospital complex Shawinigan, where they confirmed the diagnosis of influenza A (H1N1). The man was later transferred in a centre specialized in Montreal, where he yielded last Sunday.
In meeting in Radio-Canada Mauricie, the manager of the public health of Mauricie, the Dr Giles W. Loft, pointed out that it was about an insulated case. They still do not know if the man contracted the virus in Quebec or while he was in Cuba.
The man being discussed suffered from asthma and would not have accepted vaccine.
In the Mauricie region and of Centre-du-Qu?bec, this decease carries in six the number of victims of influenza A (H1N1). Newly, they brought back that 265 persons whose medium age was of 28 years were hospitalized and 34 persons were accepted in intensive care. The medium age of the five persons died before last Sunday was of 63 years.
