MONTREAL -- Quebec health authorities reported 1,464 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the total number of cases in the province since the start of the pandemic to 136,894. Of them, 11,456 are active.

Premier Francois Legault said vaccinations should be coming in January.

Thursday's update is the highest single-day increase the province has reported since the pandemic began, and the province's seven-day average now stands at about 1,208 new cases of COVID-19 per day...

MONTREAL -- Quebec had a double dose of bad news in its battle against the COVID-19 pandemic Saturday.

The province broke its record for the number of new cases in a 24-hour period when officials reported 1,480 new cases. The prior record was set Thursday when 1,464 new cases were reported.

The total number of deaths due to the disease reached a grim milestone as well, as they surpassed 7,000 to start the weekend.

The province reported 37 new deaths bringing the total number of people who have died due to the novel coronavirus to 7,021...

MONTREAL -- The total number of positive COVID-19 cases in Quebec reached a new milestone Sunday as the province surpassed 140,000 confirmed cases.

Quebec reported 1,395 new cases of the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours bringing the total number of cases to 141,038 since the start of the pandemic.

During the same period, four people died due to the disease in addition to eight who died between Nov. 22 and Nov. 27.

The 12 new deaths bring that total to 7,033 in the province.

The seven-day average rate of new daily cases is now 1,285...

MONTREAL -- Quebec health authorities reported 1,333 more cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the total number of cases in the province since the start of the pandemic to 142,371. Of them, 12,138 are active.

The province's seven-day average now stands at 1,309 new cases per day.

Officials also reported another 23 deaths related to the disease in Quebec. Eight of them took place in the last 24 hours, 14 are from sometime between Nov. 23 and 28 and one more occurred at a unknown date.

The City of Montreal reported the highest number of new cases out of any Quebec region on Monday, with 400 (total 51,156), followed by Monteregie, with 165 (total 20,102), Quebec City, with 162 (total 11,778), Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, with 116 (total 5,208) and Lanaudiere, with 106 (total 11,278)...

Coronavirus hospitalizations jump as Quebec adds 1,117 new cases, 28 more deaths

Quebec is reporting 1,177 new infections linked to the novel coronavirus health crisis Tuesday, bringing the caseload to 143,548.

There are 28 additional deaths attributed to COVID-19, the illness caused by the virus. This includes three Quebecers who died within the last 24 hours.

The death toll has reached 7,084 since the pandemic began in March.

Hospitalizations are on the rise again. There are 719 patients in hospitals across the province, an increase of 26 from the previous day. Of them, the number of patients in intensive care rose by four to 98...

MONTREAL -- Quebec health authorities reported on Wednesday the highest single-day increase of COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic by adding 1,514 new infections.

The province has recorded a total of 145,062 cases of the disease since it began keeping track in March. Of them, 12,740 are active.

The seven-day average of new cases in Quebec currently stands at 1,376 per day.

Quebec also reported another 43 deaths linked to COVID-19 on Wednesday. Nine of those deaths occurred in the past 24 hours, 29 occurred between Nov. 25 and Nov. 30 and another five are from before Nov. 25.

Two deaths were removed from the total after an investigation found they were not attributable to COVID-19. A total of 7,125 people have now died in Quebec since the start of the pandemic.

Montreal reported the highest increase in new COVID-19 cases of any Quebec region on Wednesday, with 386 (total 51,848), followed by Monteregie, with 191 (total 20,489) and Quebec City, with 186 (total 12,083).

Montreal has renewed its state of emergency over the agglomeration for an additional five days. The city has been in a state of emergency since March 27...

MONTREAL -- The number of new COVID-19 cases in Quebec continues to stay near the highest they've been since the pandemic began, with authorities reporting 1,470 more people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

The total number of positive COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic is now 146,532 and the province's numbers have increased by an average of 1,377 per day over the past week.

The Quebec Institute of Public Health reports that there are now 13,197 active COVID-19 cases, and that 982 more people have recovered from the disease for a total of 126,179.

Quebec also reported that 30 more people have died due to the disease with 12 deaths occurring in the past 24 hours, 12 between Nov. 26 and Dec. 1, and six before Nov. 26.

MONTREAL -- Quebec set a devastating high bar Saturday in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic when officials reported 2,031 new cases in the past 24 hours.

The province has now reported 149,908 positive cases since the start of the pandemic.

It is the first time in Canada that a daily increase in confirmed cases has surpassed 2,000 in a single province. It shatters the previous record number of new cases set on Dec. 1 when Quebec reported 1,513.

The Quebec Institute of Public Health posted a since-taken down note ot its site that some of the cases were from prior days.

The province reports that there are 13,846 active cases, and that 1,279 more people have recovered from the disease.

The total number of recoveries is now 128,828 in the province.

Public health authorities also reported 48 more deaths due to the disease. Of those, 11 occurred in the past 24 hours, 27 were reported between Nov. 28 and Dec. 3, eight before Nov. 28 and two at an unknown date...

The province also reported another 22 deaths linked to the disease, for a total of 7,277 since the pandemic began. Of the latest deaths, three occurred in the past 24 hours, 18 took place between Nov. 30 and Dec. 5 and one before Nov. 30.

MONTREAL -- The pressure that COVID-19 is putting on Quebec hospital emergency rooms is being felt mainly in Mont?r?gie, Montreal, Quebec and the Outaouais, say health authorities.

A Monday update by the province's Health Index service on ER occupancy rates showed overflows in six of the eight hospitals in Mont?r?gie. The rate for the entire region was 120 per cent of capacity, and at the Haut-Richelieu Hospitalit was 135 per cent.

MONTREAL -- Quebec health authorities reported 1,564 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, with 14,853 active cases.

There were also 36 new deaths linked to the disease, for a total of 7,313 since the pandemic began. Twelve of those deaths happened in the last 24 hours, while 22 took place between Dec. 1 and 6 and two were prior to Dec. 1.

The seven-day rolling average of new cases now stands at 1,509, which is slightly down from yesterday.

However, in a more troubling indicator, Quebec has Canada's highest rate of confirmed cases per capita at 1,812 confirmed cases per 100,000 population. MONTREAL -- Quebec's new COVID-19 cases pushed the weekly average up Wednesday as the province reported that 1,728 more people have tested positive for the disease in the province in the past 24 hours.

That number is 99 more than the 1,629 seven-day average, and the total number of positive cases in Quebec since the start of the pandemic is now 156,468.

The Quebec Institute of Public Health reports that there are 15,426 active cases in the province, and that 1,119 people have recovered from the disease. The total number of people who have recovered from COVID-19 is now 133,692, or 85 per cent of the total positive cases.

In addition, the province reported 37 more deaths due to the disease. Of these, seven deaths were reported in the past 24 hours, 24 occurred between Dec. 2 and Dec. 7, five occurred before Dec. 2, and one person died at an unknown date.

The total number of deaths due to COVID-19 in the province is now 7,349 after Quebec officials removed one death from the total since an investigation found that it was not attributable to COVID-19.

MONTREAL -- Quebec is expected to decide by next week whether it plans to add measures to slow the spread of COVID-19 across the province, as cumulative cases surpassed 160,000 on Friday.

"We have a situation that remains difficult," Premier Francois Legault said at the last news conference of the fall session on Friday. "But I still wish to say to Quebecers that every effort that we’ve made so far… These are efforts that have given us something."

New restrictions would mean the closure of non-essential businesses, Legault said earlier this week...

Quebec reported 33 new deaths associated with COVID-19 on Sunday and 1,994 new cases of the novel coronavirus.

Public health authorities said 12 of those deaths took place in the last 24 hours with the rest taking place at an earlier date. The provincial death toll now stands at 7,508.

The Health Department said there are now 880 people in hospital, up by 20 from Saturday. Of those, 123 are in intensive care, a decrease of six from the previous day.

MONTREAL -- As Premier Francois Legault gets set to announce new restrictions in Quebec, the province's COVID-19 hospitalization numbers spiked Tuesday, shooting past 900 provincewide.

Quebec reported that 69 more people are being treated in hospital since Monday for the novel coronavirus, bringing the total number to 959.

Of these, 125 people are in the intensive care ward, which is three more than 24 hours ago.

The province added 1,741 new positive COVID-19 cases to its tally Tuesday. The total number of Quebecers who have tested positive for the virus since the start of the pandemic is now 167,276.

The seven-day average for new infections is now 1,791 per day.

MONTREAL -- Quebec health authorities reported 1,897 new cases of COVID-19 in the province on Wednesday, bringing the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic to 169,173. Of them, 17,392 are active.

The province also reported that 1,315 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered on Tuesday, for a total of 1,613. So far, 743 vaccines were administered in Montreal and the other 870, in Quebec City.

MONTREAL -- Quebec health authorities reported 1,855 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the total number of cases in the province since the start of the pandemic to 171,028. Of them, 17,861 are active.

As of Thursday, the current seven-day average stands at roughly 1,817 new cases per day in Quebec.

Health officials announced on Thursday that they administered another 969 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine on Wednedsay, bringing the total number of people vaccinated to 2,582 so far in the province.
