MONTREAL -- In its first update on the state of the COVID-19 virus in the province, Quebec reported that 7,663 more people have tested positive for the virus since New Year's Eve.

On Dec. 31, the province reported an increase of 2,808 followed by 1,986 cases on Jan. 1. On Jan. 2, Quebec broke its record set Dec. 30 (2,819) when it reported 2,869 new cases in one 24-hour period.

The total number of people who have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the province since the start of the pandemic is now 210,304.

The province also reported that 121 more people have died due to the disease. Of these deaths, 11 were reported in the past 24 hours.

The total number of people who have died due to the disease in Quebec is now 8,347.

Quebec is reporting 2,546 new cases of the novel coronavirus Monday as the second wave of the pandemic continues to surge.

Health authorities also recorded 32 additional deaths in the province, including nine that occurred in the past 24 hours.

The COVID-19 caseload stands at 212,850 and the health crisis has led to the deaths of 8,379 Quebecers to date. Recoveries have topped 181,000.

Hospitalizations jumped once again by 69 to 1,294. Of those patients, 188 are in intensive care units, an increase of nine from the previous day...

Quebec is reporting 2,508 new cases and 62 additional deaths attributed to the novel coronavirus Tuesday.

Health authorities say of those deaths, 17 occurred in the past 24 hours, while the others have been retroactively added to the tally.

The province has reached 215,358 COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, with more than 182,000 recoveries to date. The death toll, which remains the highest in Canada, stands at 8,441.

Quebec recorded 2,641 new cases of COVID-19 and added 47 deaths on Wednesday, as hospitalizations spiked by 76.

That brings the total number of people infected in Quebec since the beginning of the pandemic to 217,999, of which 184,904 have now recovered.

There are 24,603 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

Total deaths now come to 8,488. Among those 47 newly reported deaths, 13 occurred in the last 24 hours, 28 between Dec. 30 and Jan. 4, five occurred before Dec. 30 and one happened at an unknown date.

The number of hospitalizations increased by 76 compared to the previous day, for a cumulative total of 1,393. Among these, the number of people in intensive care increased by eight, for a total of 202.

Quebec is reporting 2,519 new cases linked to the novel coronavirus Thursday as the health crisis rages on.

The province, which has been a hot spot for the virus since the pandemic began, has a caseload of 220,518. Recoveries now stand at 186,996.

There are 74 additional deaths in the province. Health authorities say 16 Quebecers died in the past 24 hours.

Quebec is reporting 2,588 new cases and 45 additional deaths Friday as the second wave of the COVID-19 crisis continues to gain ground.

The province also saw a jump in hospitalizations linked to the new coronavirus. There are 23 more patients in hospital for a total of 1,403 — a number not seen since the spring.

MONTREAL -- As Quebecers begins the first night of a month-long curfew starting at 8 p.m. Saturday, the province set a new daily record of COVID-19 cases, with 3,127 people testing positive for the disease in the past 24 hours.

MONTREAL -- With Quebec entering its month-long curfew Saturday night, the province reported Sunday that 2,588 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

The number is below the 2,645 seven-day average for daily cases, and much lower than the record number set Saturday when the province reported 3,127 new cases.

Quebec has now reported 228,821 positive COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic. Of those, 195,663 are reported to have recovered from the disease, which is 2,684 more than 24 hours ago.

The Quebec Institute of Public Health reports that there are now 24,454 active COVID-19 cases in the province.

Quebec also reported 39 more deaths due to the disease Sunday with 14 occurring in the past 24 hours, 23 reported between Jan. 3 and Jan. 8, and two occurring before Jan. 3.

MONTREAL -- For the first time in days, Quebec recorded fewer than 2,000 cases in the province on Monday, logging 1,869 new infections and 51 deaths.

Of those 51 deaths, 18 occurred in the last 24 hours, 29 between Jan. 4 and 9, one occurred before January 4 and three took place at an unknown date.

The province said 2,275 people recovered from the coronavirus on Sunday, leaving 23,996 active cases in the province.

And 8,400 doses of vaccine were administered on Sunday, for a total of 92,452.

MONTREAL -- Quebec added fewer than 2,000 cases of COVID-19 for the second day in a row on Tuesday, with 1,934 new infections and 47 deaths.

Recoveries outnumbered new positive cases, with 1,982 people reportedly virus-free on Monday.

There are now 23,903 known active cases in Quebec.

The total number of Quebecers infected since March now stands at 232,624, of whom 199,920 have recovered.

Of the 47 new reported deaths, 13 occurred in the last 24 hours, 27 between Jan. 5 and 10, four before Jan. 5 and three at an unknown date.

The total number of deaths now stands at 8,782. Two deaths previously attributed to COVID-19 were withdrawn after an investigation found otherwise.

On Monday, 61 people entered hospital, to make a cumulative total of 1,497. Among these, the number of people in intensive care increased by 10 for a total of 221.

MONTREAL -- Quebec reached a troubling and grim milestone Wednesday in its battle against the COVID-19 pandemic when the province announced that over 1,500 people are now being treated for the disease in hospital.

The province reported an increase of 19 people hospitalized since Tuesday, bringing the total number of hospitalizations to 1,516. Of those, 229 people are in the intensive care ward, an increase of eight.

In the past 24 hours, the province's health-care authorities reported that 2,071 more people have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of positive cases in the province to 234,695 since the start of the pandemic.

The seven-day average for increases in cases is now 2,385 and the Quebec Institute of Public Health is reporting that there are 23,695 active COVID-19 cases.

Of the total cases, 202,166 people have now recovered, an increase of 2,246.

Quebec also reported 35 new deaths, including seven in the past 24 hours, 23 between Jan. 6 and Jan. 11, four before Jan. 6, and one at an unknown date.

The province also found after an investigation that two deaths previously attributed to COVID-19 needed to be removed from the total deaths due to the disease in the province. That total is now 8,815...

MONTREAL -- Quebec added 2,132 new cases of COVID-19 to the tally on Thursday, and 64 more deaths.

Recoveries outnumbered new cases, with 2,575 people reportedly COVID-free on Thursday. Since March, 204,741 people have recovered from the virus.

Since the start of the pandemic, the province has recorded 236,827 infections. There are currently 23,187 active cases of COVID-19 in Quebec.

Among those 64 deaths, 15 occurred in the last 24 hours, 41 between Jan. 7 and 12, four occurred before Jan. 7 and another four happened at an unknown date.

Total deaths due to the disease now amount to 8,878. One death was withdrawn from that count after an investigation found it was not attributable to COVID-19.

After a week of high hospitalization rates, the trend appears to be slowing down, with just seven new hospitalizations recorded in the past 24 hours, for a total of 1,523.

Of those, one person entered intensive care, for a total of 230.

The province conducted 36,402 coronavirus tests on Jan. 2. Quebec reports their testing rates two days after the fact.

The total number of vaccinations are expected to be released at 1 p.m. on Thursday...

COVID-19 hospitalizations decrease

MONTREAL -- A week into a province-wide curfew to curb the spread of COVID-19, Quebec reported Saturday that 2,225 more people tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

The number pushes the seven-day average to 2,105 and is the highest number of daily cases since Jan. 10.

In addition, the province added 67 deaths due to the disease pushing the total number of deaths past 9,000 in the province since the start of the pandemic. That total is now 9,005.

However, the province is also reporting that 2,430 more people have recovered from the disease (210,364 total), and 22 fewer people are receiving treatment in Quebec's hospitals.

The total number of hospitalizations is now 1,474 including 227 in the intensive care ward, a decrease of four. ..

The province said 14 fewer people are receiving treatment in Quebec hospitals reducing the total number of people receiving treatment for the novel coronavirus to 1,460. Of those, 215 people are in the intensive care ward, a decrease of 12.

MONTREAL -- Quebec reported Thursday that 1,624 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of positive tests in the province to 248,860 since the start of the pandemic.

Of the total positive tests, 221,327 people are reported to have recovered from the novel coronavirus, an increase of 1,735.

In the past seven days, the province has reported an average of 1,719 new cases per day.

The province also reported 66 more deaths due to the disease, including 22 since Wednesday, 39 between Jan. 14 and Jan. 19, four before Jan. 14 and one death that occurred at an unknown date.

The province also removed one death from the overall total after an investigation found it wasn't attributable to COVID-19.

The total number of people who have died due to the disease in the province since the start of the pandemic is now 9,273, Quebec says.

Since Wednesday, 14 fewer people are receiving treatment for COVID-19 in the province's hospitals bringing that total to 1,453. Of those, 216 people are in the intensive care ward, the same number as 24 hours ago....

MONTREAL -- Quebec added 1,631 new cases of COVID-19 and 88 deaths on Friday.

The province says there was a late transfer of reported deaths, making today’s total higher than usual.

Out of those 88 deaths, 18 occurred in the last 24 hours, 33 between Jan. 15 and Jan. 20, another 33 before Jan. 15, and four happened at an unknown date.

Recoveries outnumbered new cases, with 2,040 more people reportedly virus-free on Friday.

Since March, 250,491 people have become infected with COVID-19, of which 223,367 have now recovered.
