Quebec reports 386 new COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations down slightly

Quebec recorded 386 new cases but no additional deaths Monday as the province continues to deal with an evolving fourth wave of COVID-19.

The latest daily tally is part of the official update from the government, which says a total of 1,569 infections were reported over the past three days. There are 4,405 known active cases in the province as of Monday.

Health Minister Christian Dubé said that while the data seems “encouraging at first,” he noted it hails from the weekend and that authorities will “continue to monitor the situation in the coming days.”

“We will also closely monitor the effects of the start of the school year and the end of vacation,” he wrote on Twitter.

Hospitalizations related to the novel coronavirus dropped by one since last Friday for a total of 125. This includes 37 patients in intensive care units, an increase of one compared to before the weekend.

“We can see the effect of vaccination on hospitalizations,” Dubé said. “It’s encouraging.”...

Quebec reported 425 new infections and one additional death Tuesday related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Health officials say there were 4,400 active novel coronavirus cases across the province, which is dealing with an evolving fourth wave.

The number of hospitalizations climbed by six for a total of 131. Of those patients, there are 36 people in intensive care units, a drop of one compared to the previous day...

MONTREAL -- Quebec reported 699 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday along with one more death due to the disease.

Of the new cases, Quebec public health says 513 people were unvaccinated, 62 received one dose more than two weeks prior to testing positive, and 124 received both doses more than a week before the test...

... There are now 5,058 active cases in the province, a net increase of 329 since Wednesday.

Since March 2020, 11,289 people in Quebec have died due to the disease.

Seventeen people checked into hospitals in Quebec for COVID-19 treatment and 17 were discharged meaning hospitalizations remained stable at 138 with 42 of those patients in intensive care wards, an increase of two.

Of the new patients, 14 were unvaccinated and three received both doses more than a week ago...

MONTREAL -- Quebec reported Friday that 750 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the province, bringing the overall total number of infections to 391,363 since the start of the pandemic.

The last time the Quebec Institute of Public Health (INSPQ) reported more than 700 cases was May 14 when 791 cases were added.

The INSPQ is monitoring 5,265 active COVID-19 cases after 541 people recovered from the disease...

... The province also added two deaths due to the disease, making the total death count 11,291.

The Ministry of Health reports that 24 more people checked into one of the province's hospitals as of Sept. 2, and 15 were released, meaning hospitalizations rose by nine. Of the new patients, 14 were unvaccinated, one had received one dose of vaccine over two weeks ago and nine received both doses more than a week ago.

There are now 147 patients in hospital receiving care for COVID-19, including 49 patients, who are in intensive care wards, an increase of seven from Thursday...

MONTREAL -- Quebec passed a major milestone Saturday with 80 per cent of the eligible population having received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.

The same day, the province reported 666 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 since Friday, Sept. 3.

Most of the new cases (466) were reported among people who got their first dose less than 14 days prior to getting sick, or never received a dose at all.

The province also reported one new death, bringing the total death toll to 11,292 since the pandemic began.

An estimated 57 per cent of cases since Aug. 21 are linked to the more contagious Delta variant.

MONTREAL -- Quebec reported 778 new coronavirus cases Sunday, the largest single-day increase in months, according to data from Quebec's Public Health Institute (INSPQ).

The last time Quebec reported an increase higher than that was in late May, according to the Institute.

The province also reported one more person has died due to the virus.

Sunday's update has pushed the seven-day rolling average to 628 new coronavirus cases per day in Quebec...

... Health authorities are also sounding the alarm over the increase in hospitalizations.

Two more people have entered care for a total of 149. Of those, 56 are in the ICU, an increase of four since Saturday...

Quebec reported 515 new COVID-19 cases but no additional deaths Tuesday as the health crisis continues.

Of the most recent infections, the province says 353 were among unvaccinated people or those who had received only one dose less than 14 days ago.

The number of pandemic-related hospitalizations rose by 11 from the previous day for a total of 171. This includes 68 patients in intensive care units, an increase of four in the past 24 hours.

Health Minister Christian Dubé noted on Twitter that 16 of the 21 newly admitted patients were not adequately vaccinated against the novel coronavirus, adding that those people should not prevent immunized Quebecers from returning “to a certain normality.”...

MONTREAL -- Quebec reported Wednesday that 600 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the overall number of infections to 394,452 since the start of the pandemic.

Of the 600 cases, 473 people were unvaccinated, 36 had received one dose of vaccine more than two weeks ago and 91 had been double-vaxxed for more than a week.

The number of active cases rose by 165. In total, the Quebec Institute of Public Health (INSPQ) is monitoring 5,625 active cases...

... The province reported three more deaths due to the disease. Since March 2020, 11,296 people in the province have died due to the novel coronavirus.

Twenty people were admitted into Quebec hospitals for COVID-19 treatment and 13 released, meaning the total number of hospitalizations is now 178, an increase of seven.

Of the 20 new patients, 14 were unvaccinated, one received one dose of vaccine more than two weeks ago, and five received both doses more than seven days ago.

MONTREAL -- Quebec is reporting 879 new coronavirus cases recorded Friday, the largest increase of infections in a single day since May, according to data from Quebec's Public Health Research Institute.

Four more people have been reported dead due to the virus.

General hospitalizations increased by nine for a total of 207 people receiving care Friday. Of those, 72 are in the ICU, up two from the day before.

Health-care professionals are monitoring 6,604 active cases. Active coronavirus infections have not exceeded 6,000 since May 23, 2021.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 396,034 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Quebec. Of those, 378,721 have recovered, and 11,301 have died.

According to public health data, 67 per cent of new cases reported between Aug. 22 to 28 were related to the Delta variant...

MONTREAL -- Quebec's Ministry of Health tweeted Saturday that the province has reported 995 new COVID-19 cases, with around 78 per cent of those not fully vaccinated.

The ministry said 702 of those newly infected by the novel coronavirus had not received a dose of vaccine, 70 received one dose more than two weeks ago and 223 received both doses more than a week ago.

These infections came from 26,329 samples that were analyzed meaning the positive infection rate was 3.4 per cent.

Thirty-six more patients checked into Quebec hospitals, in addition, with 30 of those unvaccinated, two having received one dose of vaccine, and four double-vaxxed.

In total, 218 people are receiving care in the province's hospitals for COVID-19, 11 more than on Friday. Of those, 75 people are in intensive care wards, an increase of three.

Four more people died due to COVID-19, bringing that total to 11,305...

Quebec is reporting 757 new cases of COVID-19 today and no additional deaths attributed to the virus on Sunday.

Health authorities say hospitalizations dropped by five from Saturday’s levels to 213, while the number of patients in intensive care remains steady at 75.

Health Minister Christian Dubé issued a tweet saying the majority of patients in intensive care over the past 28 days have not been fully vaccinated and is urging Quebecers to get their second shots.

Quebec reported 639 new cases and one additional death Monday as the province continued to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Laval, Montreal’s large northern suburb, remains the most affected region in the province with 190.6 active cases per 100,000 people, followed by neighbouring Lanaudière with 113 active cases per 100,000 people.

The number of hospitalizations rose by 14 to 227. This includes 75 patients in intensive care units, which remains unchanged from the previous day.

When it comes to virus-related hospitalizations, Health Minister Christian Dubé said that a “high proportion” — nine out of 10 — newly admitted patients in intensive care units are not fully vaccinated...

MONTREAL -- Quebec's Ministry of Health reported Thursday that 782 more people have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the overall total number of infections since the start of the pandemic to 400,625.

Of the new cases, 576 came from people who were unvaccinated, 42 from people who received one dose of vaccine more than two weeks ago, and 164 people were double-vaxxed more than a week prior to their positive test...

... The Quebec Institute of Public Health is monitoring 6,607 active COVID-19 cases, a rise of 127 from the day before.

There are 64 new COVID-19 cases in Manitoba on Thursday, the province says in a news release.

The province also provided details on the two latest deaths from the illness, which were already posted on the province's coronavirus dashboard earlier this week.

Thursday's news release said one of the latest deaths was a woman in her 70s from the Interlake-Eastern health region who contracted the delta coronavirus variant.

The other was a man in his 80s from the Winnipeg health region who had an unspecified variant, the release says.

Manitoba's total number of deaths linked to the illness is 1,203.

Of the latest COVID-19 cases, 44 — or nearly 69 per cent — are among people not fully vaccinated against the illness, the province says...

...Manitoba's five-day test positivity rate is now 2.5 per cent, the release says, down from 2.9 on Wednesday.
